Tunnel Out

Tunnel Out is a solo role playing /  journaling game. It  is not very crunchy and is not entirely about journaling.  So it's a great balance of random events through dice rolling and story telling through journaling. If Journaling games with prompts feel like book reports, but you like the narrative aspect of RPG's, this might really hit that sweet spot.

The goal of Tunnel Out  is to escape from your cell in a penal colony on an alien planet, along with the other prisoners, and navigate a tunnel to freedom.  

There is one escape pod at the opening to the tunnel a week’s walk away, but only one person can use it to escape the horrible planet. Prisoners work together to get to the pod, but at some point they must turn against each other or lose their chance to be the one who escapes.

 You roll dice to see what kind of damage is inflicted by the hiding creatures and obstacles  as you work your way through the tunnel, and you journal as you move along. It’s there that you create the story and introduce your own spin on the journey to freedom.  (I've also added a storyboard sheet you can print if you prefer to journal with pictures. There is room to draw and leave a few notes about what is going on.)

Because this is a solo game, you can decide how many prisoners go along with you, who they are, and what they do.  And there's nothing stopping you from going it alone. The fun of journaling is controlling the narrative, but the introduction of random events and injuries from dice rolls can send you off into unexpected directions which keeps the game interesting!

• A booklet PDF version is now available. It is formatted to print double sided and saddle stitched. (stapled in the middle) It includes everything except the new storyboard sheet.
• These versions are print and play PDFs that are not visually developed. They will be more developed with later releases.
